American Girl dolls

27 May

In light of our conversation in class today, here is an article on American Girls dolls from Jezebel that was released awhile ago. It’s interesting to note that Mattel took over American Girl doll in 1998. This is when the “ME” American dolls starting being released. These are the customizable dolls where you can design them to look more like you. Apparently Mattel has been pushing these dolls since they took over the company. The historical nature of the dolls has also declined. The dolls used to tell stories that allowed young girls to learn about the history behind each doll. Today, the dolls have less agency in this department. The article also discusses Bratz and Barbie dolls at the bottom. Definitely click on the highlighted links because some of them are an interesting read.
